Where Are You Running To?

  Judges 9:46-53

As sure as night follows day, we are going to be faced with challenges in our Christian walk.  How we respond to those challenges determine how fast we mature or if we die.  There are times when we will even question if this life is even worth all the hassle.  We will be tempted to question the love of God.  We will be tempted to question His authority. When we understand that God is sovereign and that His timing is perfect in ALL things, we will not come to the place that says “God is not moving fast enough, therefore I am going to seek help from another source”.  We will recognize that our ONLY source is God and that waiting on Him only matures us and helps us to grow in patience.  Patience matures us and causes our faith to increase.  As I heard in a presentation at Bible College a few days ago, “faith that is tested is trustworthy”.

In the above scripture, the people in running from their enemy, ran into the stronghold of El-Berith (a demon god) and were consumed by fire.  In another township they ran into the strong tower and the assailant was killed by an upper millstone thrown from the top of the tower by a woman.  The rock in the Old Testament always represents Jesus.  The song that says “The name of the Lord is a strong tower, the righteous runs into it and are safe” is demonstrative of this particular scripture.  God does not need any help from anyone to help you.  Running to any other source but God is a great recipe for trouble.  Mark 3:26 says “If Satan has risen up against himself and is divided, he cannot stand, but he is finished!  Therefore, anyone working for him, – psychics, balm yard “healers”, witch doctors etc – will not be seeking to exalt the Kingdom of God in your life but the kingdom of darkness.  To activate the power of God in your life so that you can withstand the challenges to your Christian walk that will inevitably come, live a life of prayer.  Be constantly communicating with your Father in Heaven.  In that way, you will be told in advance of what is coming so that you can be prepared.  Live a life of being totally obedient and sold out to Him, giving Him full control.  Test everything that you say or do against the Word of God.   Come to  DECISION  in your life that the Bible is either ALL TRUTH  or ALL LIES.  I say this because (yes, I was guilty of this too) we tend to just like to apply the “nice parts” of the Bible to our lives and leave out the tough parts.  But if you believe any part of the Bible for your life, you are obligated to believe everything.  How will you know if the part you believe is truth or lies?  If you come to the conclusion that the Bible is ALL TRUTH, then pray and ask the Holy Spirit to guide you into all of the truth of the written Word for in it there is life everlasting.

Thanks, this was part of my morning meds. We tend to think that if what we read in his word is against our personal belief its a lie , not so , his word is all truth, whether we believe it or not.
