When God Provides A Way

Now you might wonder – what exactly does a lizard have to do with God providing a way?  Let me tell you a story.

One day I was hiking in the hills above Ferry with my husband Rohan.  He is a fisherman, but he also hunts wild boar for a living.  He was leading, and his hunting partner Neville and I were pulling up the rear.  As we were walking down the pathway between the trees a lizard jumped from a limb, landed on Rohan’s head and leaped over to the limb that was across the path, going on his merry way.  Neville and I looked at each other, shook our heads and pretended as if nothing had happened for reasons which we will not go into right now.

I thought about that incident a lot recently especially in relation to Matthew 6:26-34.  When I remembered that that lizard missed the intended branch and land on Rohan’s head, all that came to my mind is that God provides even for His smallest creatures.  How “coincidental” that Rohan passed just at the time that the lizard missed the branch.

This scripture in Matthew 6 says that He concerned about all that happens in His creation.  In Matthew 10:29 it also says that a sparrow cannot fall from the sky without Him knowing about it.  How much more is He concerned about us – the pinnacle of His creation and how much more is He willing to do for us?

I was telling someone about this incident and they asked me how I knew that the lizard did not intend to jump on Rohan’s head.  I replied, “if that were the case, it would have stayed on his head when it landed because it would have reached its destination.”

Which brings me to another point.  God sent Jesus Christ to give us a bridge to reach our divine destination – eternity with Him. However, we cannot cross the chasm between hell and heaven if we do not access the bridge of Blood that was shed to make a way for us.  This Blood that was shed enabled the propitiation of our sins and redeemed us, because we in and of ourselves could not pay that toll.
