Continued from Watershed Moments & Hydration
Just to recap our last post; watershed moments that we experience drain excess storm water from our lives. It removes the pollutants, debris and other things that make the river (symbolic of God’s power in our lives) unable to function as it should. It does this by depriving the river of much needed oxygen (symbolic of the Holy Spirit) thereby hindering it’s flow. After God judges these things in us (storm) and puts our river in spate (river of difficulty), the excess storm water is drained away, the river is cleaner, calmer and fresher. We can actually drink from it.
God desires that we drink from His river of life.
There is absolutely nothing like drinking from a really clean source of fresh water. Can you picture yourself, hands cupped, and drinking deeply of this cool, crisp water? You can almost feel the passage of coolness flow through you. You never really appreciate how thirsty you are till that first sip of water. The watershed moments enable us to drink deeply from a pure source. This pause for refreshment is important to us. It revitalizes us, banishes fatigue, gives us peace, enables us to go on.
I read in Dr Monte Kline’s book Face to Face – Meeting God in the Quiet Places, that we should be drinking water equal to 50% of our body weight in ounces daily to be properly hydrated.
In order for our spirits to be hydrated we must be drinking from the Living Water every moment of our lives. The only way to do this is to immerse ourselves in the Word of God on a very regular basis. In that way we will be like “trees planted by rivers of water” sinking our roots and drinking deep, enabling us to bear good fruit.
I pray that this year is a watershed year, a year of breakthrough, of moving from one phase to another. May you be refreshed constantly by your relationship with our Father through His Word and by His Holy Spirit. May this year be your best of years.
