The Right Identity

Continued from Mood Food

THY WORDS WERE FOUND AND I DID EAT THEM; AND THY WORD WAS UNTO ME THE JOY AND REJOICING OF MINE HEART; FOR I AM CALLED BY THY NAME, O LORD GOD OF HOSTS. – JEREMIAH 15:16

Definition – Identity1)http://Dictionary.com

the state or fact of being the same one as described.

exact likeness in nature or qualities: an identity of interests.

condition or character as to who a person or what a thing is; the qualities, beliefs, etc., that distinguish or identify a person or thing:

Jeremiah makes a bold statement – “For I am called by Your Name O Lord of Hosts” .  So confident is Jeremiah in God and His abilities, that he not only finds joy and rejoicing in his heart when he eats of the Word, but also because he also knows that he is identified with God.

He knows that he is distinguished because he can be identified as belonging to God.  This is a bold statement indeed.  Why would I say that?  Do you remember how much persecution Jesus received at the hand of the scribes and Pharisees because He identified Himself with God as His Father?  Remember that Jeremiah was pre-Jesus.  How much more of a bold statement would that have been then?

Are you able to identify yourself with God? Or do you persist in thinking that you are unworthy to do so?  Is your mind so bound that you would think, I would not dare.  Well I would.  I am His.

By the Spirit of Adoption, I am able to say “Abba Father2)Roman 8:15”.  I am one of His sons.  Sons inherit from the Father.  The sacrifice of His Son Jesus enabled me to make that claim.  I am not bound by law in my thoughts and deeds but I am able to access His Grace.  His Grace enables and empowers me to resist sin.

I am called by His Name.  When I am troubled and He looks at me He see the Blood of His Son and Jesus who is interceding for me at His right hand says – “Daddy – that is one of mine, see the Blood”

I not only know who I am, I know whose I am.  Do you?
