The Escalator

Continued from The Bridge

Definition: a moving set of stairs that carries people up or down from one level of a building to another1)

As we go through our Christian experience, it is expected that we will mature as we face the daily challenges of our lives. God calls us to a higher place in Him and with Him at all times.  He wants us not to fear His purifying fire but to come up to the mountain – His Holy mountain2)Deuteronomy 5:5 & Exodus 20:18. The fire of purification is necessary for us and is an act of a merciful God, because without being purified,we cannot stand in His presence.

Each challenge that we go through either makes us or breaks us.  If it makes us, we move to the next level.  If it breaks us, we will be like the pot that the potter has to break and make over again until it can stand in the perfecting heat without breaking.

It is interesting to note that the escalator moves in both directions.  Have you ever wondered about some people who seem to have it all together in their Christian life, yet at some seemingly small thing, they crumble and backslide easily? When we build on a wrong foundation, the building can go up, but eventually it crumbles.  God continually tests us and inspects our foundation.  If your foundation is not strong, the building will come down and be built up again -properly.

Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,

Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.

And this will we do, if God permits3)Hebrews 6:1-10.

Let our vision be an upward vision as we ride the escalators from one level to the next.

In conclusion, please remember to ask God when you face a crossing in your life, “Is this a springboard, bridge or an escalator?”

Bless You.
