Springboard

Continued from: When God Provides A Way

DEFINITION: something that supplies the impetus or conditions for a beginning, change, or progress; a point of departure:1)http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/springboard?s=t

Sometimes God, seeing that we cannot get to our destinations purposed by Him on our own, will send us some help. These persons were meant to be in our lives for a season, to be a springboard to our next destination.  Sometimes it is not just persons but opportunities; a job that was meant to be temporary, or a chance meeting.

Oftentimes, we get so comfortable on the springboard that we miss our destination. We are so happy just bouncing up and down that we forget to leap. Because of the bouncing, we have this sense of buoyancy when in fact we are really stagnant.  Oftentimes we do not leap because we are afraid that we will miss and land in the chasm.

I remember once while hiking with Rohan, we had to cross a canal.  He effortlessly leaped over but I was afraid. It seemed too wide and I was afraid of the crocodile that was in the river (it was upstream, just calmly watching).  Rohan told me to look at him and reach for his hand.  When I did that, I crossed effortlessly.

Matthew 14:22-23 tells us about Peter walking on water.  We note that when he took his eyes off Jesus, he started to sink.  But we also see an example of great faith just before.  He walked on water just because Jesus said “Come”.  Even as he sank, he cried “Lord save me” and he was saved.

Don’t worry about missing as you leap.  Keep your eyes on Jesus and not the circumstances that surround you.  Even if you take your eyes off Him for a minute, once you recognize that, call out to Him for help and He will save you.  I also want you to note from that scripture, that Jesus did not carry Peter back to the boat.  It actually said “And when they climbed into the boat…”, implying that they both walked on water to the boat.

Not only will He save you as you are falling, He will set you back on track with your purpose.
