Read the Manual

In my early days as a service technician in the computer industry, I was often called to solve problems that could easily have been resolved if the customer had taken the time to read the manual.  After I resolved the issue, I would show them the reference in the manual, gleefully whip out my service log, write it up, have the customer sign it and deliver it to my office. Commission!

It happens everyday, people purchase a new gadget, start using it right away and do not bother to look at the manual. Something goes wrong and they seek out a technician, to assist them.  When asked, “did you read the manual?”, they shake their heads. They then have to fork out some money to pay.  Even if a friend is doing it for them for free, it costs them something in time.  Lack of knowledge is costly.

When we become a redeemed member of the Kingdom of God by salvation through Jesus Christ, there is a manual provided for us that gives us valuable information about our identity, how to behave (kingdom protocol), how to treat the citizens of the Kingdom, how to deal with adversity, the plans of the enemy, the plans of God, the laws by which we live, how to resolve conflicts (of interest, between each other), how to approach our King, how to honor etc.

It is as complete a Book as is only possible through God. It is the only BOOK that accurately tells us what our future holds.  It is the Living Word because even though others would try to tell us it is only a history book, there are topics in every chapter and verse that are still relevant today.  It is the only BOOK through which divine revelation comes. The only one that accurately gives us a glimpse of heaven, that reveals the Father’s heart, that ushers us into His divine Presence.

Absorbing this book into our spirit brings us to levels of revelation  that empower us. This book is a treasure chest that reveals the secrets of God to those who are not just content to skim off the top, but are willing to dig into its depths to find what is hidden and more precious.

In this book He promises to show “great and mighty” things.  We discover that we are not bastards but sons. We have legitimacy and therefore authority.  It is through this book that we develop our level of intimacy with our Heavenly Father, and it is through it that He has provided answers to every question in our hearts.  When we heed the Spirit of Truth within us, which is the Holy Spirit of God, He guides us to the truth of every situation by the Living Word.

Through this Book comes authority, healing, deliverance, salvation, sanctification, forgiveness, joy, strength, courage, laughter, protection, intimacy, comfort, hope, faith and love.  From it our hearts are gladdened, our pains healed, our joy restored, our peace cemented.

Through this Book, we learn how to war, that we can run through troops, leap over walls, tear up the foundations of the enemy and cast them away through the strength of God in us.

But for me the best part is that I can call this almighty God MY FATHER.  That He cares so much about me that I do not have to consume myself with worry about tomorrow, because He has already taken care of my every need. That He knows my beginning and my end, and He has me covered. That in a crisis I can declare to the atmosphere that “My Daddy says” and I can just decree what He says and everything MUST conform to His Word. I know this because I have read the manual.
